Number systems are mathematical notations for representing numbers using digits or symbols. The most common number systems are:
- Decimal System (Base 10): Uses digits 0-9. This is the system we use in everyday life.
- Binary System (Base 2): Uses only 0 and 1. This is the foundation of all digital systems.
- Octal System (Base 8): Uses digits 0-7.
- Hexadecimal System (Base 16): Uses digits 0-9 and letters A-F.
Each number system has a base (or radix) which determines how many digits are used and the value of each position.
Conversion between number systems is an important skill in computer science and mathematics.
